The French Revolution: Social Causes
The first estate was made up of clergy of roman catholic church.the second estate was made up of the rich nobles. It held the highest offices in government. The third estate included bourgeoisie, urban lower class, and peasant farmers. It had no power to influence government. July 14 is a french national holiday just like the u.s. with the fourth of july. On july 14 a mob tried to get gun powder from th bastille, a Paris prison. The angry crowd overwhemled the king's soliders, and the bastille fell into control of the citizens. the third estate felt used because they have always been outvoted. then the estates joined and became the natioal assembly.
